Highly recommend the mofungo crispy pork, beef and cheese pastelitos, chicken pastelitos, tostadas, and beef stew! Do flavorful and delicious!

Amazing food! We loved everything that we have ordered. Found this restaurant on Google Map and I liked the photos of dishes that were posted in reviews. Our waitress Amaya was so kind and patient. I asked a lot of questions since I never had Dominican food. She patiently answered each one my questions and told me what she would recommend. I ordered Mofongo Bistec encebollado (Steak and Onion with Yuca Mofongo). Yuca Mofongo was so delicious, it was my favorite part of the meal. Bake Pernil (Roasted Pork) was moist and tender, full of flavors. Goat Stew was cooked perfectly, good amount of lean meat soaked in delicious sauce. Each dish comes with rice, they substituted mixed vegetables for my husband and I since we are trying to avoid carbohydrates. We also had a cup of Cappuccino, it was nice and strong. They have a nice espresso machine in the bar area. The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated. Multiple large TVs. I really enjoyed everything, will definitely go back especially for the Yuca Mofongo.

Was recommended this place by my barber Jay who was so confident I would like the food, he offered to reimburse me if I didn’t like it! Safe to say he can keep his money! Caffe Colao Restaurant was amazing! The food is completely authentic and tasted like I was back in NY! They are both English and Spanish speaking to better serve a larger population of people. The place is small but has a large atmosphere. It was nice and cool, tv’s playing, and music filled the room with Latin flair making me dance while seated! The food: I ordered a chicken and a ground beef patelito that were both so good, I still can’t decide which one was better. They both oozed with so much flavor, seasoning, and spices, I couldn’t think of anything but taking the next bite. I also ordered a side of tostones. They were the absolute BEST I have had since the year I have lived in Virginia! The consistency was perfect and could taste the love in every bite! (I ate the whole plate). For my main dish I ordered churrasco with rice and beans. The churrasco was so delicious, I could have died right after a very happy person. The taste teleported me back to being a teenager in NY. There was just so much flavor and juice and taste, I was in pure bliss! It felt like everything in the world was right while I was eating here. Takeaway: The place is worth traveling out of state to eat at! The food is so authentic and amazing, you will momentarily forget any problems you are having. I went around 1:30 on a Saturday and it was pretty empty. However, when our food came, about 4 other groups of people did as well. Great food, great music and great service elevates this place to a top tier restaurant! Highly recommend to others and definitely will return for more food!!!! Please please please try this place!

Tasty food. Authentic dishes. Great service

The food here is delicious! The oxtail and goat stews were bursting with flavor and were quite savory, it really hit the spot. The sweet plantains were an excellent appetizer to complement to the meal. The beans and rice were also good too. Would come here again!

This restaurant was recommended to go and have delicious Dominican food. We went today and had great food. I had beef stew with rice and beans, my wife had Pernil with rice and beans w/ tostones. My son had the Cuban sandwich ( was a miniature version of what I’m used to) but was good. All the food we had was delicious... I tasted my wife’s pernil which was soft tender and juicy. The Skin could have been a little more crunchy, but tasted good. Yaima (our waitress) was very polite and attended to our every need. I’ve seen some give this restaurant a one star which is not fair to them. I dug deeper into the person who gave them a one star. Come to find out, he gave 5 out of 8 reviews a one star... go figure. I recommend this restaurant for some delicious Caribbean Hispanic food. Prices are slightly over reasonable, but once you taste the food, it will be worth it. Next time I come, I’m trying the oxtail. Thank you Colao Restaurant

You won’t regret it.

Great dining experience. We had a Cuban sandwich with fries and the Mofongo with fried chicken. So yummy! The service was also excellent. Definitely worth the visit. Can't wait to return to try another dish.
